2004 BlueDevilsPlayground ACC Postseason Awards

ACC Player of the Year - Chris Duhon (Duke)

It was a close call between Duhon & NC State's Julius Hodge, but Duhon receives the nod because of the success that his Blue Devil team had & the importance of his contributions to that success. Duhon's statistics are not glowing, although he did average 10 PPG, 6 APG, & 4 RPG. But it was his leadership that was his most impressive stat, in addition to his many big plays throughout the season. After a disappointing junior season, Duhon led Duke to the ACC Regular Season Championship & a berth in the final four, & is also among the 5 finalist for the Wooden Award.

ACC Rookie of the Year - Luol Deng (Duke)

Once again, in a close call Deng is our pick over Chris Paul of Wake Forest because of the success of Deng's Duke team. Deng averaged 15 PPG, 7 RPG, & 2 APG, & was a major reason for Duke's success in winning the ACC Regular Season Championship & a trip to the Final Four. Deng's versatility caused matchup problems for Duke opponents & he also showed a knack for stepping up in big game situations. Assuming he returns to school next year, he should be a leading candidate for ACC & National Player of the Year honors next season.

ACC Coach of the Year - Paul Hewitt (Georgia Tech)

After being picked to finish 7th in the ACC during the preseason, Hewitt led the Yellow Jackets to a tie for 3rd place in the league (9-7). Hewitt also led the Yellow Jackets to the school's second appearance in the Final Four & their first appearance in the national championship game. Georgia Tech finished the season with 28-10 record overall.
