McRoberts Excited to Play in Cameron
Duke Class of 2005 commitment Josh McRoberts has had an extremely busy offseason so far & things
are beginning to get even more hectic for the 6-9 forward from Carmel, Indiana. McRoberts' Spiece AAU team has been impressive
in a runnerup finish at the Kingwood Classic in Houston & in winning the Adidas May Classic in Bloomington. The talented
Spiece team features Greg Oden, Daequan Cook, & Mike Conley, Jr, along with McRoberts. Oden, Cook, & Conley are all
top-ranked members of the Class of 2006. Spiece will now travel to North Carolina to play in the Tournament of Champions,
which will take place in various venues in the Triangle area during Memorial Day weekend. According to McRoberts, Spiece will
open play at the TOC at 10:00 PM on Friday night, May 28, in Cameron.
Concerning his remaining schedule for the offseason, it appears he will be very busy for the next
few months. "I will be playing with my AAU team at the Tournament of Champions & I will also be playing with my AAU team
in Las Vegas in July," McRoberts says. "I also hope to spend about a week this summer just hanging out & playing some
pickup games at Duke, but I am not sure when that will be quite yet," he added. "I also plan on going to one of the shoe camp
this summer, but I haven't decided which one I will go to yet," McRoberts concluded. McRoberts also noted that he will
attend the USA Developmental Camp in Colorado Springs, Colorado in June.
In addition to his AAU schedule & his plans to attend some individual camps, & with his
recovery from his previous back injury now complete, McRoberts will also be busy working on his skills & conditioning.
"Wojo just sent me some information on some conditioning workouts & some skills workouts that they want me to be working
on this summer. It is mostly some of the same stuff that Shav & Shelden will be working on, such as conditioning drills,
post drills, & stuff like that. I am also working with a personal trainer about twice a week," McRoberts stated.
While McRoberts has played previously at Cameron during his visits to the Duke Basketball Camp, it
will be his first appearance in Cameron in an official game. McRoberts is very excited to have the opportunity to play in
Cameron & in front of the many Duke fans who will be seeing him play for the first time. "I certainly hope that I don't
disappoint," McRoberts concluded.
